Education Mobilization Participation and Opportunities for Women’s Empowerment and Rights (EMPOWER)

SANKALP has been conducting an integrated and holistic set of activities on Women’s Development and Empowerment as part of its project “Education Mobilization Participation and Opportunities for Women’s Empowerment and Rights (EMPOWER)”.
The main components of EMPOWER include;

  1. promotion of women's human rights;
  2. reducing feminized poverty;
  3. prevention and elimination of violence against women;
  4. promoting equal access of girls to primary education; achieving gender parity in enrollment, retention and achievement in schooling, particularly in secondary level; and enhancing the participation of girls in technical, vocational and tertiary education;
  5. innovative and demand-driven reproductive and child health services for adolescent girls and women, particularly with emphasis of reducing infant mortality, child mortality and maternal mortality;
  6. reversing the spread of HIV/AIDS and other diseases( like TB and malaria) among women and girls as well as providing equal access to essential medicines;
  7. promoting economic empowerment of women;
  8. integrating gender equality concerns into environmental sustainability by taking into account women’s needs and priority in environmental programmes; and
  9. working towards gender equality in governance.
