i. Participated and contributed to Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice of the Parliament of India on the issue of “THE PREVENTION OF CHILD MARRIAGE BILL, 2004” on September 27th, 2005. The Organisation made a detailed presentation on the deficiencies of the Bill, which has proposed to replace The Child Marriage Restrained Act, 1929 to provide more effective deterrence to prevent the evil practice of solemnisation of child marriages in the country. The Organisation suggested appropriate amendments in the Bill to eradicate the practice of child marriages.
ii. Participated and contributed to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Human Resource DEVELOPMENT of the Parliament of India on the issue of “THE Protection FROM DOMESTIC VIOLENCE BILL, 2002” on August 28th, 2002. A detailed presentation was made before the Committee by Dr. (Mrs.) Sarala Gopalan, Former Secretary, Department of Women & Child Development, Government of India & Programme Advisor to SANKALP on Women Development and Dr. Ajaya Kumar Mishra, Chairman, SANKALP, highlighting the major deficiencies in the Bill and suggesting for comprehensive modifications therein to integrate various forms and manifestations of domestic violence and to enlarge the protection, reaffirming the basic principles and standards of the human rights of women, as defined by international human rights instruments to provide effective protection to women from domestic violence in national law as well as in national practice.
